Deon Denton

The Director

Deon's passion for the stage was developed while participating in a school play. She began writing short skits for her high school drama team and eventually was writing full length plays for her Community Theatre group.

Promise Productions was officially launched in 2008 when Deon wrote and directed “Pieces of Me” a musical about a restless wife trying to escape her secret past.  The show was a hit with audience members, which led to a two week staging  at Toronto’s renowned, Theatre Passe Muraille, in 2013.

Deon has been privileged to see her work on the stage at many festivals and stages including the Toronto and New York Fringe Festivals and the Midtown International Theatre Festival (Off Off Broadway).

An award winning director she directed the musical "Secret of My Success" with the Agincourt youth group that won best musical at the International Teen Talent competition in San Antonio Texas.

Deon studied filmmaking at Toronto Film School, Acting at Seneca College under Lynn Weintraub and has had the privilege of studying acting techniques with Miriam Laurence, one of Toronto’s most respected acting teachers.
